Today is the start of the 2011-2012 Coyote Night Hunting Season by Permit Dec. 16th, 2011 - Aug 31st, 2012! Time to get out and enjoy some serious coyote hunting. But don't think that you can only hunt coyotes at night during these dates! In Maine there is a NO CLOSED Season on coyotes, they can be hunted during daylight all year long except Sundays! (Which is a ridiculous law, no hunting on Sundays, but our kids can't say Merry Christmas in school! If you don't get my point here, you will never get it! Not allowing hunting on Sunday should be the crime! )

The Permit Swapping Started June 18th about 9 PM for us. We had a mad rush and slight system glitch to overcome in the first 24 hours of the 2011 Moose Permit Swap season, but from much past experience with dealing with this type of website in the three years prior, our new automated system is handling much of the work load!

After the first 24 hours our website had reached 100, a new first 24 hour record for us! By the end of the day Wednesday we had topped 200 and to date we are at 250 which is Thursday only six (6) days into a six (6) week Moose Permit Swapping Season! We are well on our way of breaking our 2010 record of 350 Registered Moose Permit Swappers!

This year we have implemented a few simple forms that allow users to update their listing, we understand when you are registering at a new website things are different for many users online, you may need to make some zone changes or swaps you are willing to trade for. Some even enter wrong contact information such as , email addresses and phone numbers. These all can be changed easily with our simple to use forms. Don't like the password the automated system assigns to you , we have a change your password form as well, so you can easily remember how to return to the website to check for new swap listings! When you have found a Moose Swap partner to trade with, we have a simple form to submit you have swapped too!

Our swap form is a simple list format that allows you to keep yourself focused when searching for zones you would like and that others are willing to swap! Because it is in a list form format, you can even print it out and sit down on your kitchen table and look it over! We think this is a much better way to look at a swap list of up to 400 potential swap partners each season!

This year we have added a complete Moose Hunting Product Supply section with calls, scents,Hoe to Moose Hunt DVD's. E-books and other great gear for the moose hunter! We have continued with our printed product t-shirt, sweatshirts and lots of other moose hunter wear!

Coyote Night Hunting Begins in Maine Tonight!

Finally.. Night hunting for coyotes is back here in Maine! The long awaited date of Dec 16th,2010 is finally here. The coyotes need to be thinned out here in Maine because of a population explosion in these animals. Maine has a Hybrid population of part wolf and part coyote and these animals have reached epidemic proportions, reports of domestic cats and dogs being snatched from coastal back yards are not uncommon.

It's no secret Maine had an excellent snaring program about 9- 10 years ago, and that was taken from the DIF&W as a management tool because of the anti hunting groups meddling in legislation through loop holes of a Federal Endangered Species act. These groups are the reason for the coyote explosion, which has and is currently depleting Maine's deer heard. These groups have no one but themselves to blame for the recent push to educate hunters that coyote hunting is a great and challenging sport! So I guess in some weird way. I am saying thanks to these anti's that stick there noses into areas they don't belong!

Every day I receive email updates and articles in news papers and blogs across the internet describing coyotes as mans best friend and how they are not hurting the deer populations or that there is no scientific data suggesting that they are devastating the deer population. Hunters do not need scientific data to prove to these animal rights activists that coyotes in the north east.kill for the sake of killing, they are over populated, that they are 50-70 lbs, that they come in typical coyote coloring to a solid black, they are vicious, they eat turkeys, small game, deer and moose in the north east! They even attack domestic cats, dogs and farm animals on a regular basis! Hunters are the people that are in the woods and fields everyday, hunters are the superior experts "many simply don't have masters degrees from Harvard", these self-proclaimed experts sitting at their office chair working for politically driven agencies are nothing more than another political smoke screen, using money, media and other avenues to taint your mind with their ideas of man and beast can live happily ever after, saying let nature take it's course and all hunters need to stay home and give it a try! Hunters know... harvest and proper management of all species must be provided by man, otherwise animals will suffer from disease, humans will suffer from predation from animals! Man has tainted this earth, man is the superior being on earth, man has a brain (although some choose not to use it) man must mange this earth and histiry will show, man... must manage man in order to maintain peace and to survive!

Coyotes are no doubt a huge problem today in New England, hunters see the destruction by these animals every day, some in part from poor forest management practices, but that damage is done, now we must work together to reduce coyote populations to an acceptable level. What is that level? Based on the so called experts, coyotes can bounce back from extinction.. so in my opinion let's take it back to near extinction and test their theory!

Coyote hunting in Maine and other Northeastern areas of the USA is one of the most challenging animals to hunt and very little is known about the techniques that work to bring that coyote into range. New England hunting is noted for being some of the toughest areas in the world to be successful as a hunter. Predator hunting in these areas increase the hunters challenge of being successful ten fold in the North East!

Coyote topics in the forum are from how to call them in during certain times of the year, to night hunting over bait! Trappers, houndsmen and hunters from young to old, from no experience to vast experience are all conversing and helping each other out!
